Hossio began in 2024 with a vision to put high quality Portuguese rosé wine on the map and show just how amazing it is. Our project is a boutique winery, with limited editions and small productions but unlimited horizons. Our founders, Rute and James, obsessed with the pursuit of perfection, set out to create a rosé that was dry, fresh and undeniably delicious. A wine that brings joy for wine drinkers – to surprise some and delight all.
Our vineyard was planted in 2016 and orientated from west to east on a gentle slope, nestling within the beautiful Serra D'Ossa region. This scenic mountain range, located in southern Portugal between Estremoz and Redondo, is celebrated for its rich biodiversity and expansive woodlands. The diverse flora and fauna of Serra D’Ossa both create a picturesque backdrop and contribute to the vitality of our vines, enhancing the unique character and quality of our wines.
Our wine is the sum of many parts: gorgeous grapes produced in our family vineyard, the expertise of our vineyard team, a fabulous location on the Serra D’Ossa, and our oenology team at LoboV Wines. The result? Elegant, fresh wines crafted with tradition and modern technology.
Rute, an economist, was born and raised between the rich cultures of Portugal and Macau. She’s gathered over 25 years of professional experience across the UK, Europe, and the US, picking up a taste for adventure. Rute brings an analytical eye and a passion for perfection to every bottle. She is also known for being a wonderful host—her happiest moments are when she’s surrounded by family and friends, sharing laughter and good food. Whether orchestrating a tasting or a family dinner, she believes great wine is best enjoyed with great company (and maybe just one more bite of her famous cooking).
James, a sustainability finance expert whose international escapades span several countries in Europe and the US, brings his business acumen and an unparalleled global perspective to the table (and to the tasting room). His knack for making deals is matched only by his enthusiasm for finding the ideal food and wine pairing. As a sustainability expert, James is always thinking about lightening our footprint, such as implementing thoughtful water management practices and planting trees and shrubs to enhance biodiversity across the vineyard.
